Looff Art Festival 2016

On August 20, I participated in the 2nd Annual Looff Arts Festival at Crescent Park in Riverside (East Providence), RI. It was my first time doing this particular outdoor show, but I had heard good things about it from the public and from other artists , so I wanted to give it a try and see how it went. I should have made my checklist before everything else. Continue reading

XOS Exchange Street Open Studios Live Painting

On the weekend of September 7&8, 2013 I had the pleasure of participating in XOS Exchange Street Open Studios in Pawtucket RI. This event brings together many artists and art lovers in the growing creative community of the Armory Arts District if Pawtucket. I was fortunate to be a guest artist with gracious hosts in Riverfront Lofts where I was able to transport my studio for the weekend. During the weekend, I set up my easel and canvas and worked on a live painting demonstration throughout the 2 days. It was an excellent way to involve others in the conversation of how a painting is created and how to determine the direction the painting goes. Here are several progress photos of the painting I worked on. Continue reading

Newport WetPaint 2013

I was pleased to participate for the first time in the WetPaint 2013, an outdoor painting event organized by the Newport Art Museum in Newport, RI. Many artists gather for the annual event, paint anywhere outdoors in Newport RI surrounding area from morning until 3PM. Each painting is then hung for a silent auction, and 50 pieces will be put in the live auction. Proceeds from this auction go to support the Newport Art Museum. I was pleased to meet many other artists, enjoyed beautiful weather, and got to paint by the water. Here are photos of progress from my painting of the day at WetPaint. Continue reading

Pawtucket Arts Fest 2010 Recap

I spent this last weekend making and selling art at the Pawtucket Arts Fest, held in Slater Park on September 11-12. We had beautiful autumn weather –not hot, not cold, but just right. It was a pleasure to meet a lot of other artists and crafters, and it was also a lot of fun to talk with the many Arts Fest go-ers that stopped by my art booth.

While I was at the Pawtucket Arts Fest, I also made a chance to work on a few paintings in the nice weather. I was able to finish one and start on another one, and here are some photos of what I was up to:

Many people stopped in front of my booth to participate in the “Name A Painting” Contest.

I brought with me two unfinished paintings to work on, and started a new painting on a third blank canvas.

(dis)continuity. Oil on Canvas. 16x20.

Painting completed at Pawtucket Arts Festival, titled: (dis)continuity

Here I am working on the second painting, and its semi-completed phase after the Pawtucket Arts Fest. It is still not titled yet.

The third painting I only just began. There’s still alot more work that I have planned to go into the image:

This painting was begun at the Pawtucket Arts Fest. There's still much more to go into it.

I also brought along my largest painting, a 6-foot by 4foot painting, entitled: Writhe

This is "Writhe," my giant 6-foot by 4-foot painting, hanging in my booth at the Pawtucket Arts Fest

Overall, it was a great experience being at the Pawtucket Arts Fest, and I enjoyed the beautiful weather and all of the great people with whom I was able to talk about art. Now I must get back into the studio to complete those paintings I started.
