Our final weeks of the Creating with Clay art class for ages 10-14 went very well. The students were keen to learn and apply what they’ve been studying. Each week of the clay class builds upon some of the skills of the class before. Each week I asked them if they remembered what the clay terms were from the weeks prior, and overall they recalled it each week. Our last two classes we made low-relief sculptures on slabs, and our final class we made action figures using paperclips to assist as armatures. At the end of the last class, I gave them each a survey to fill out, to let me know their thoughts on the class if we ran it again. As it turns out, they had positive things to say — and constructive feedback as well.
